majors were assigned the task of refreshing the School of Art at Louisiana Tech with new promotional materials. This is what I submitted as a part of that campaign. On top of the assigned projects, I decided to try and tackle a possible rebrand of the School of Art and see if the powers-that-be and faculty would be interested. Unfortunately, they were not, but I was still proud of what I came up with. Building on the foundations of an art education, I played off the basic elements of the square, circle and triangle. These shapes allowed for the student's and faculty's work to be prominently displayed. With this identity, I was interested in allowing a lot of flexibility for the mark to bend and flex in different contexts. The main focus of this campaign was a general booklet about SOA and a poster that promoted the 2013 Fellowship for one incoming graduate student. I tried to remain playful and dynamic with the booklet. As part of the booklet, I designed a set of icons communicating the philosophies of SOA. The goal of the poster was to mix both traditional processes and new technologies. Instead of sending files off to get them digitally printed, we decided to hand screen print them in-house. We produced 600 of these posters and our backs are still paying for it. On top of printing them, we decided to laser cut one x-acto blade to symbolize the one person who will be awarded the 2013 Fellowship. Instead of simply making a series of the word destroy, I decided to make the piece a performance piece and physically destroy the one of kind laser cut sheets. I took each sheet and destroyed them in a different way. I sent the C through a paper shredder. I made a paper airplane out of the R. The E was covered in spray paint. I stabbed the A with an x-acto knife. The T was set on fire. The E was manually balled up. I was asked to participate in the third issue and contributors were given the word "Survival" as direction for their illustrations. Given the theme, I focused on a playful approach focusing on boy scouts and nature. My first thought was a reminder by Smoky the Bear that only I can prevent forest fires.
